Victoria, I hate to see this!!! I like her the best of all your girls. So sorry

What can I say, sheit happens.
I will use her sister Peanut for my next breeding instead. |

I am sorry, that is too bad!

This is my first bred-by dog with ED as well.
The grading in Sweden is more strict than OFA and ED grade 1 here goes only up to 2mm of bone change while OFA grade 1 goes to 3mm. So it is very little and in Schatzi's case there is only one little speck that could only be seen with the digital photo at 100%. The vet was not even sure they would notice it,but they did and I am glad. |
|
|
I admire your conduct as a breeder! This has to be hard and are they certain that the speck is not something else??
|

|
The speck seems to be solid and set onto the bone so it's not a loose fragment on either elbow. I have to be this strict in my breeding if I want to produce quality dogs. Schatzi has a litter sister who is HD:A/B ED:0/0 with excellent character a super working dog. I will lease her for my breeding instead.

Xeena also doesn't have a loose fragment, just a slight sign of osteoarthritis, but since we don't want this to come back in the next generation(s)...

This is the conduct we should expect of all ethical breeders. Thank you for setting the gold standard of breeders Victoria. I have also removed dogs from my breedings because I have better available to me. It doesn't matter how good a dog looks or how many wins they have had. Health comes first in my book. To ignore it will only be cause for the problems to come back to haunt you in future breedings. Good for you Victoria. Peggy Doster

Peggy, absolutely correct and yes, Victoria is setting a standard! If ALL breeders, no matter what they breed to have such standards, we would be in good shape and there would not be so many problems in dogs, cats OR horses. Schatzi is a beautiful animal and it would break my heart if this was my dog and my breeding. However, I would and have done the same. A good breeder is in the game to improve. Kudos to you, Victoria and others that follow this line of thought. |

I agree with all above what aren't you worried about using a sister to a failed dog? Just asking
Larry/ http://llmoeva.tripod.com
Some people just make amstaff rules when it suits them. Do your own thing in your own yard. |
|
|
With the sister I have a higher chance of producing healthy puppies.
The sister does not have these defects and hopefully will not pass them on either. Only time will tell. |

Really sorry to hear this Victoria, she's a lovely girl and I like her alot and I agree with everyone and applaud your ethics as a breeder! Peanut's a pretty good back up dog, her drive and character seem awesome, can't wait to see what you get out of her, best of luck!!
